Here is the before/current state of my boyfriends home. He has done so much work to this house since he bought it. Architecturally, it’s a beautiful home. 20 foot ceilings, big open loft area, wood beam ceilings, wood floors, and big windows. I don’t see the house for what it is-but what it could be.
It’s very dark and blah. Definitely not reflective of our personalities. I can see so much potential! I’m really excited to start turning this house into a home! If you want my help decorating your room, click here.
I started off by creating a design board. This board is to get a feel for colors, textures, and a general overall vibe for the space. I presented the design board to Brandon to see what he thought (and praying he likes me). I didn’t want him pointing out the exact items he liked, but rather, if he liked the general overall vibe; and he did.
I went into my software and created a virtual eDesign of the living room based off the vibe of the design board. Some of these items might change. For example, I know he didn’t care much for the paint color, so we will have to figure that out later. And I know for sure I want to get this bookshelf to put in the corner. But there’s other things that I know for sure we will be doing and getting…more on that in the post.
Here’s a side by side comparison of this wall. Before/after the eDesign.
Here is another view of the room. It’s so cluttered, dark, and frankly, uninviting.
Here is the eDesign. Now, I’m not sold on the fireplace idea. I think we may go in with Airstone, just like I did in my previous home-if I can convince Brandon. I was suggesting the cabinets on the side of the fireplace because of the cabinets he has on the sides currently-however, I am not a fan. They are so big and bulky! I do like the idea of a collage wall, but I’m not 100% sure of that either. If I can convince him that the Airstone would be a good idea I’d want that to be the main focal point of the room. It would make such a big difference!
Update- I convinced him of the Airstone and he loves it! Click here to see it!
This wall is just screaming at me to put a mirror there.
Here is what I’m thinking. A large mirror in the middle of the wood beams. I know that a mirror of this size is going to cost $500+ so this will probably be a DIY. I want a large mirror to fill in that space, reflect light, bring the eyes up, and make the space feel bigger.
Here is the before/after eDesign. Again, none of this is set in stone, but I know for sure I want these pillows! If you want my help decorating your space, click here.
