DIY GLITTER OMBRE TABLE LEGS

DIY GLITTER OMBRE TABLE LEGS

Hey guys! Today I’m showing you what I did with my DIY glitter table. I added an ombre paint effect WITH GLITTER! What do you guys think?! I LOVE it! It’s so ME, lol! This was an easy DIY and I had everything on-hand to create this look, so if you’re lucky…maybe you will have everything you need to do this also!

You will need:

Multi-surface cleaner
Paint colors of your choice. I used black paint for my base
Acrylic paint to create the ombre (I used flag red + pretty in pink and fruit punch + bright magenta)
Foam brushes
Glitter!!!
Mod podge
Polyurethane

Directions:

The first thing you want to do is clean your surface. I used Mrs Meyers muti-surface cleaner. You can sign up here and receive free 5 Mrs Meyers products through Grove Collaborative.

The next step is paint your furniture. I painted mine black, but you can paint yours whatever color you want.

I started with the base of my legs with pink and worked my way up into a feathering motion. Then I went in with the orange mixture directly above it-again, with a feathering motion.

Wait until it’s dry in between coats-I applied 3 coats to each leg. On the last coat, I took my pink brush and feathered it into the orange some more.

Wait until it’s dry. Then mix your mod podge and glitter. I used fine gold glitter and an iridescent glitter. You can use any color of glitter you want. As long as you like it that’s all that matters! I like to keep my glitter in these spice jars to keep them organized in my office.

Using a feathering motion again, I applied the mod podge and glitter. The mod podge will go on white and when it’ll dry clear.

I only applied one coat of glitter and mod podge.

To seal it, I applied poly. This will give it a nice protective finish while providing that nice glossy look that the top of the glitter table has.

You can use a bristle or a foam brush to apply your polyurethane. I prefer using foam brushes because they are inexpensive and I get a new one with every coat of poly. Allow your poly to dry completely in between coats. I applied two coats of poly to the legs.

If there’s any areas that need more glitter feel free to put glitter on as needed while you’re putting on the poly.

Work in a well-ventilated area – open your windows, use a fan, dust mask, or do this project outside.

What do you guys think? Will this be something you will do and if so, what colors will you use? Don’t be shy-share your projects with us to inspire the rest of us!
