Hey guys! Today we’re going to Pier 1 Imports and Dollar Tree. Shop with me for Spring Home decor for 2019. We’re going into both stores and then comparing the stores. Buy or DIY?! I give y’all SO MANY DIY home decor ideas as we shop for Easter decor and Spring decor. I can’t believe all the similar items I found at Dollar Tree and Pier 1 Imports. I NEED to know if you guys want to see more of these comparison videos OR if you prefer the Shop With Me because I’m going to be recording more this week, so let me know what you prefer. Don’t forget to subscribe and like this video if you want to see more of these!
The wreaths at Pier 1 ranged in price from $19.99-$49.99 and they were such good quality, really full and sturdy. I feel like the florals from Dollar Tree are pretty pricey for what you get and it would honestly be hard to duplicate for the price to get them as full as the wreaths at Pier 1. However, there is an exception. This wreath (pictured above) wouldn’t be hard to duplicate. Dollar Tree has all the supplies you need for this. Get a wreath form and a bundle of artificial flowers, greenery, and floral wire. You could dupe this wreath for around $5 VS $19.99
Looking at this Easter collection at Pier 1 and I’m seeing lots of inspiration for DIY’s from Dollar Tree.
You can get plain white glass plates from Dollar Tree and stencil a bunny on them. You can get the terra cotta pots for 3 for $1 at Dollar Tree. Paint them white, fill it with foam, glue moss on top and stick a wooden dowel with a round styrofoam ball, glue moss on it and then glue your eggs and sticks around it as well. They also have mini eggs at Dollar Tree you can paint them and speckle them with acrylic paint to create the same look for less.
This dish towel was so cute, but also another easy DIY. cut a bunny out of scrap fabric and glue or sew it on to the towel. You may also have some luck finding something similar at the Target Dollar Spot.
These carrots could easily be duplicated with some styrofoam cones and twine. However, this bundle of 3 is $7.99 so considering the cost of supplies, I’m not sure if DIY’ing these would be the best deal. However, after I went to Dollar Tree I noticed they had some of these bubble carrots in the toy holiday section, granted they are a lot smaller, it would be so easy to paint (or leave as is) and wrap them with twine. Display them in a basket with some greenery or on top of a box with greenery and twinkle lights.
Speaking of twinkle lights both stores have twinkle lights, granted Pier 1 are better quality because they are remote-controllable auto-off lights.
As I was about to leave I came across these plates at Dollar Tree and remembered they had VERY similar ones at Pier 1. Both plates are made out of glass and the similarity BLEW my mind!
Paisley Navy Pillow (clearance) | Floral Pillow (clearance/similar)| Tassle Rug
I couldn’t help myself because I was feeling SO inspired when I was at Pier 1 so I put together a collection super fast. The colorful floral pillow was the inspiration for this whole set and it’s on clearance! The navy blue goes really well with it because it’s solid but patterned and it brings out the navy in the main pillow it’s also on clearance! And I found this rug nearby it’s patterned but still neutral and it’s got some fun coordinating colored tassels on the ends. And these curtains are also on clearance! They’re patterned and bringing in the colors from the pillows to add a nice texture to the room. And Im a total sucker for plants and flowers and I LOVE this vase for the flowers it’s got the coordinating colors in the pillows and would be so beautiful on a confutable. And you can’t go wrong with lots of plants!
Ok, back to comparing! Both stores had these miniature artificial cacti pots. I think Pier 1 is obviously better quality, but it was nice to see that there are cheaper options…
Vase fillers. These are about $8 a bag and you can get almost the identical thing at Dollar Tree for just a dollar.
This farmhouse box is $79.95 at Pier 1, granted it’s good quality-they used real wood, but this would be SO EASY to build yourself. Go to the store, get some wood (you can make it however big/small you need), glue/screw your box together and stencil out the word “FARMHOUSE” on it. You could make this for less than $10!
My Dollar Tree didn’t have the speckled eggs, but after looking online, they DO have them! Be sure to keep your eyes open because they may have them at yours!
Both stores had these large eggs. You can leave them as. I think these big eggs would be so cute wrapped in fabric and displayed inside a glass vase.
So what do you guys think? Would you rather spend a little bit more money and get something of better quality or save money and DIY it yourself? I personally, would rather spend a bit more money on better quality items that I can re-use every year. I have spent so much money at Dollar Tree on DIY items that just end up falling apart. I’m more into DIY’ing furniture, painting and repurposing thrift store finds or items that I already have. However, with that being said, I know you guys LOVE my DIY projects so I will be sharing my DIY Dollar Tree Easter Decor projects with you soon!
